Fishbowl: "Customer has a hold status" — missing override right

Point of SalePoint of Sale — issuing a sales order

What triggers it

A customer account has an active hold status (credit hold, verification hold, or other restriction). When you attempt to issue a sales order for that customer during Point of Sale checkout, Fishbowl prevents the action if your user group does not have the Override Hold permission.

The fix

  1. Go to Setup > User Groups.
  2. Select your user group.
  3. Find the CUSTOMER module section.
  4. Enable the Override Hold right.
  5. Log out and back in.

Holds are often applied intentionally to prevent sales. Confirm with your manager before enabling this right—the restriction may be intentional and important for your business control.

You don’t have to take our word for it: Fishbowl’s official Access Rights reference lists the Override Hold right under the Customer module.

What to check first

  • Verify your actual user group assignment (ask your admin if unsure).
  • Test with a user who already has Override Hold enabled; if they can issue the order, the permission is the real blocker.
  • If the customer’s hold status itself is wrong, an admin may need to clear it in Setup > Customers instead of granting override rights.
