## What it means

A unit of measure (UOM) like "each," "case," or "box" that you're trying to delete is referenced elsewhere in your Fishbowl system—typically in product records, inventory transactions, conversion rules, or recipes. The system prevents deletion to avoid leaving orphaned or invalid data.

## What to check

- Search or audit which products use this UOM as their base or alternate unit.
- Check whether any inventory transactions (receipts, shipments, adjustments) reference this UOM.
- Consider whether you can rename or deactivate it instead of deleting.
- If you must remove it, first reassign any data using that UOM to a different one.
- Verify that historical stock counts and purchase/sales orders don't reference it.
