# Fishbowl: Must enter items before getting tax rate

> Sales orders must contain line items before requesting tax calculation from QuickBooks Online.

## What it means
Fishbowl requires line items to be present before it can request a tax rate from QuickBooks Online. QBO needs to know what products are being sold (and their amounts) to determine the correct tax rate. An empty sales order has nothing for QBO to tax, so the lookup fails.

## What to check
- Confirm the sales order currently has no line items added.
- Add at least one item (product, quantity, details) to the order before retrying the tax request.
