# Fishbowl: Sales order requires estimate or expired status

> You tried to create a sales order from an estimate or quote that's not in the right status.

## What it means
When creating or converting a sales order from an estimate or quote, Fishbowl requires the source document to be in either "estimate" or "expired" status. If you see this warning, the document is in a different status, such as "active," "approved," "won," or similar, and can't be used.

## What to check
- The current status of the estimate or quote you're attempting to convert
- Whether you've selected the correct document for conversion  
- Whether the status needs to be adjusted before creating the sales order
