# Fishbowl: "Quantity sum exceeds what was ordered"

> A quantity transaction is attempting to exceed the original purchase order amount.

## What it means
You're attempting an action (receiving goods, adding line items, or adjusting quantities) that would make the sum exceed the original order quantity. Fishbowl enforces this limit to maintain purchase accuracy.

## What to check
- Verify the quantity you're entering against the original PO order amount.
- If receiving partial shipments, check the total received so far plus this receipt against the original order quantity.
- Confirm the original PO line quantity is correct.
- Determine whether you meant to receive a partial quantity, or whether the original order quantity needs adjustment (which typically requires a PO amendment, not a receiving action).
