# Fishbowl: "You must enter a unit cost amount"

> A purchase order line is missing the unit cost (price per unit).

## What it means
Each line item requires a unit cost before the PO can be saved. This is a core validation: Fishbowl won't let you create an order without knowing what you're paying per unit.

## What to check
- Identify which line item triggered the error (usually the last one you added or edited).
- Verify the vendor quote or price agreement for the correct unit cost.
- Enter a numerical value in the unit cost field for that line item.
