# Fishbowl: "Sales tax tracking mismatch with QuickBooks"

> Your accounting systems have mismatched sales tax configuration.

## What it means

Fishbowl is configured to track sales tax on transactions and items, but your QuickBooks company file doesn't have sales tax enabled. This mismatch in configuration prevents the systems from synchronizing properly, because they can't reliably exchange tax-related data when their tax settings don't align.

## What to check

- Verify whether sales tax is enabled in Fishbowl — check your item tax settings and company-level tax preferences
- Verify whether sales tax is enabled in QuickBooks — check your company file settings and general tax configuration
- Make both settings consistent: enable sales tax in both systems if you charge customers tax, or disable it in both if you don't
