# Fishbowl: Finished qty exceeds original — Missing access right

> This error appears when a user lacks the "Finished Qty Can Exceed Original Qty" access right in Manufacture Order.

## What triggers it

When finishing a work order, if a user tries to receive a quantity of finished goods that exceeds the original quantity specified on the work order, Fishbowl shows this error. The message appears only when the user's group lacks the required access right.

## The fix

The user's group needs the "Finished Qty Can Exceed Original Qty" right enabled in the Manufacture Order module. To enable it:

1. Go to Setup > User Groups
2. Select the affected user's group
3. Open the Manufacture Order (MO) module settings
4. Check "Finished Qty Can Exceed Original Qty"
5. Save the group
6. Have the user log out and back in

Note: This right may be intentionally restricted as a control. If preventing over-receipt is deliberate policy, this message is the system working as intended.

You don't have to take our word for it: Fishbowl's official [Access Rights reference](https://help.fishbowlinventory.com/advanced/s/Access-Rights#Manufacture_Order:~:text=Allow%20Finished%20Good%20Quantity%20To%20Exceed%20Original%20Quantity) lists the Allow Finished Good Quantity To Exceed Original Quantity right under the Manufacture Order module.

## What to check first

- Confirm the user's actual group assignment in Setup > Users
- Test the same action with a user who has the right enabled to confirm it resolves
- Verify the work order's original quantity is correct (quantities of 0 or null will block all receipts)
