# Fishbowl: Customer name too long

> Customer names in Fishbowl are limited to 41 characters.

## What it means
Fishbowl enforces a 41-character maximum on customer names. When you create a new customer or update an existing customer name, the system validates the length. If your entry exceeds 41 characters, this validation error appears and prevents you from saving the record.

## What to check
- Count the characters in the customer name, including spaces and punctuation
- If the name exceeds 41 characters, shorten it by removing or abbreviating text
- Try saving or creating the customer record again
