## What it means

The UOM you tried to delete is protected from modification—Fishbowl has marked it as read-only. This usually happens with system-provided units (like "each" or "box") or when someone has intentionally locked the UOM to prevent changes.

## What to check

- Whether this is a system-provided UOM—these cannot be deleted in Fishbowl
- Whether the UOM shows a protected or read-only status in its configuration
- Whether your user role has permissions to create or modify Units of Measure settings
