# Fishbowl: "accounts are the same"

> The accounting integration can't create a journal entry because both the debit and credit sides map to the same account.

## What it means
A journal entry must use at least two different accounts (one to debit, one to credit) per double-entry accounting rules. This error occurs when Fishbowl or your accounting integration tries to create an entry where both sides map to the same account. This usually happens because the account mapping in your integration settings has both sides configured identically.

## What to check
- Check your integration's account mappings to verify that debits and credits use different accounts.
- If the account involved is inactive or deleted, the system may be reusing a fallback account.
- Verify that any automation rules for that transaction type aren't accidentally pointing both sides to the same account.
